Tony moves up: With 2,841 career hits, Tony Gwynn now ranks 35th on the all-time hits list - and closing in on No. 34. After passing Charlie Gehringer, the Detroit second baseman (1924-42), Tony now has his sights set on legendary Baltimore third baseman Brooks Robinson, at 2,848.

1996 N.L MVP Ken Caminiti is back and ready to go. He played Saturday night in a 4-3 loss to the Houston Astros. Caminiti went 2-4 with a single, double, 2 RBIs, and a run scored. Cammi has missed three weeks on the D.L. with a strained quadracep. Ken Caminiti was severely missed with is bat, glove, and just all around presence.

| Ruben, Ruben: Ruben Rivera started in center and moved to right in the eighth, as Steve Finley came in and Tony Gwynn went out. Again, Rivera contributed as a starter. He drove in the first run with a single and showed off his arm by nailing a runner with a rocket to third, this time from center. It's starting to look like Ruben's going to be around for a while. Vaughn's Volleys: Greg Vaughn's two-homer game Friday night was absolutely electric. He crushed the ball on all three of his hits - the two homers that rattled around the left field pavilion at the Astrodome and a double he tomahawked down the left-field line. Watching Vaughn up his homer total to 15 over the last few days has been a sight to behold. Here's to Caminiti's presence giving Vaughn that much more opportunity to shine. With another lefty on the mound Sunday night, Vaughn probably will be back in the No. 5 hole, assuming Finley's back in the lineup and batting No. 2.
